Thumbs down Hollywood's latest brilliant idea: Rocky, the senior citizen

Sly warms up for one more round in 'Rocky'

By DAVID S. COHEN

Sylvester Stallone is reaching back to his glory days, and companies are lining up to relive the memories.

As rumors still persist that the actor will resurrect the "Rambo" franchise, Columbia, Revolution Studios and MGM are teaming to co-produce and co-finance "Rocky Balboa," the sixth pic in the "Rocky" series.

Stallone will reprise his role as Philadelphia working-class hero and former champ Rocky Balboa. He will also write and direct.

"We'll try to capture the essence of the first couple of films," Stallone told Daily Variety.

You can't fight Father Time, and it's ridiculous that he's trying to convince us as a 60-year-old Rocky. C'mon, Hollywood, where's the originality?

I heard this new film will feature Stallone engaging in some intense bingo and shuffleboard games.

On a more serious note, it seems like new movies that are coming out keep getting cheesier and cheesier.

The sad part about this, is it makes the first two Rocky films look like trash, when infact Rocky won a best picture Oscar.

ROFL Jay with the intense bingo comment.

I heard they were trying to do another Rambo flick as well. Wasn't the last one bad enough?

I've got an idea. Team up Sly and Chuck Norris and do a First Blood/MIA crossover. Wouldn't that be great?

Antonio Tarver is rumored to have a "substantial" role in this film. Or so says the local Tampa media. I'll rent it b/c it has to go straight to video right?

Sly's really reaching, his career hasn't done well lately except his boxing show did okay. You know for sure he's reaching when Stallone and his agent are trying to make you believe that the movie, which hasn't been made yet, is like the first two Rocky movies. In other words, "We know the last few sucked, but we promise it'll be better this time."

If you've ever seen bingo played by senior citizens, you won't laugh about the "intense" comment. Those people play for keeps.
Seriously, Hollywood has had some real challenges coming up with new ideas, for proof of this see "The Dukes of Hazzard" or "Bewitched".

As if Rocky wasn't enough, Stallone is now doing another Rambo:

I can't figure out which is worse: Hollywood's originality, or Stallone's career.
