Cool Rosenhaus informs teams that Plaxico is available

Quote:
Plaxico Burress' agent has informed the other 31 NFL teams his client might be available to play for them.

Drew Rosenhaus, who has represented Burress since he signed with the Giants four years ago, sent an e-mail to all 32 teams earlier this week in which he indicated Burress could be acquired via trade, according to three people informed of the contents of the e-mail.

Giants assistant general manager Kevin Abrams notified the rest of the league that the Giants had not authorized Rosenhaus to pursue trade scenarios on Burress' behalf, and that any inquiries about Burress' availability would constitute tampering.

I've never really liked Rosenhaus, he's been very successful, but I'd rather see players get what they deserve and have him stay out of the media's eye. I guess that's the mark of a good agent though.

Unfortunately for the notoriously hubristic and presumptuous Rosenhaus, 12 ordinary citizens of New York State are going to have a far greater say on Plaxico Burress' future availability than 32 NFL club owners do - and based on what they decide, a judge may be in the position to "tamper" with Burress for up to the next 15 years.

As if anyone is going to give the Giants anything of substance for him before knowing whether he is going to prison or not.

I'm amused by this. Rosenhaus acts like he has all the power, when it's the teams who do. But I guess it doesn't hurt to put some feelers out there for teams.

Wonder how often Rosenhaus will visit Burress in Dannemora, or Attica, or wherever he does his time!

Sounds like the Giants are open to welcoming him back: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3948827

I would, too, despite everything. He's an important player who made a mistake.

A couple of decades ago, Plaxico Burress wouldn't have realistically faced any prison time even if he was convicted; but times have changed, often too much, since then.

If Lillo Brancato (no relation!) could get 10 years for kicking in a window (in the same jurisdiction), there's no reason to believe that Burress won't get at least the minimum 3 1/2 years for actually firing a gun in a crowded public place, albeit at himself.
