Default Top 5 albums revisited....

W3 did one of these a while back, but I don't feel like looking it up, plus we have several new faces since then. Time to start anew.

Stranded on a desert island. 5 albums. What do you have

5. Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon
4. U2 The Joshua Tree
3. AC/DC Back in Black
2. Metallica The Black Album
1. Guns n f***ing Roses Appetite for Destruction

If you can't tell, I am a rock kind of guy. I dunno if anything I ever listen to will ever take my 2 top spots of G-n-R and Metallica. (or able to knock off AC/DC for that matter.)

I've never been very good with albums --being more of a greatest hits/downloading music guy...but here are some artists and bands I love in no particular order except the first four:

Bob Dylan
The Rolling Stones
The Wallflowers
Tom Petty
The Beatles
Paul Simon
Pearl Jam
Oasis/O.A.R./Thrid Eye Blind
Johnny Cash

And if you like Bob Dylan (I know buckeye does, but I'm not sure about anyone else here) then you should check out Josh Ritter. He's a younger guy, I've heard some of his stuff, and really enjoy it. I think he has a good career ahead of him. From what I hear, he is a smart guy, and actually writes decent lyrics, a lost art.

It always makes me chuckle when we do this kinda thing and Ricky puts up his bands. For a conservative Ricky, you sure like some very liberal rockers. Like I've noted before though... that just means there is hope for you yet.

I wonder if this top 5 is similar to my previous one?

1. Pearl Jam-Ten
2. Pearl Jam-Vs.
3. R.E.M.-Murmur
4. Bob Dylan- Blonde on Blonde
5. Neil Young-Crazy Horse

Ha, yes yes, I know. I am glad I can separate politics from the music and just enjoy it, though, because if I couldn't I'd be stuck listening to Lynard Skynard, Ted Nugent and modern pop-country all day...oh...and Kid Rock. :bash: :noway:

Conservatives just can't rock.

You should check out Josh Ritter though, buckeye. If you do, let me know what you think some time.

I agree Ricky with your "conservative" list of rockers being pretty bad. Don't get me started on Southern rock...of course. R.E.M. is from Athens, Georgia though.

I'm markin' down Josh Ritter.

Ha. Never thought I would see a list that included Animals AND Gomez. Not that I'd put Gomez on my "Island 5", but we've got similar tastes there... I'm tempted to go check out Tupac's brother, Kula just based on this.

In reality, I'd just take Pink Floyd's Live at Pompeii, edit out the second half of One of These Days that sounds like circus music, and play that CD on perma-loop until I ran out of batteries. I've got hundreds of CDs lying around, but on several occasions I've popped that in the player and listened to absolutely nothing else for days straight... one time it was the only CD in my car for 3 months. Pretty sure i'll never get tired of it.

If i had to take 4 others, uh, I guess Animals, Dark Side, OK Computer, and Husky Rescue's Country Falls. I could at least use them as coasters.

These are some interesting lists...

If I could only keep five albums for the rest of my life, these are it (not in any particular order regarding favorites):

The Beatles - 1967-1970 (George Harrison was my favorite, BTW)
The Police - Synchronicity
Madonna - Like a Virgin
Van Morrison - Moondance
Annie Lennox - Bare

I am like Ricky, and enjoy the greatest hits better than the actual albums. I would have thought of five albums I love sans greatest hit compilations, but the hell with it.

Here are the five CD's that never leave my car:

5.) Boxed Set - Steve Miller Band
4.) The Very Best Of Marvin Gaye - Marvin Gaye
3.) Portrait Of A Legend 1951-1964 - Sam Cooke
2.) The Rising - Bruce Springsteen
1.) Thriller - Michael Jackson

I'm not really an album guy, I just prefer downloading what I like and the greatest hits.

The top five bands/singers that I would take anything of:

George Strait
AC/DC
Brooks & Dunn
Johnny Cash
Guns N' Roses/Van Halen/Red Hot Chili Peppers (any one of them would be fine).
