Default Portis goes down. How long will he be out?

partially dislocated shoulder

One has to figure that won't keep him out of the season opener. Will it?

Glad I didn't draft him. I saw the tackle, it was a pretty damn good tackle too.

I have to wonder what in the hell was he thinking laying out for a tackle like that in a preseason game. Just let him go. During the last sideline update it Andrea Kremer made it sound as though the 'Skins were a bit worried that he may not be healthy enough to go the first game of the year.

You can't play half assed ball if your a competitor, preseason or regular. Sounds like he'll be fine come the start of the year.

And who drafts their fantasy teams before the first week of the preseason is over?

Oh you can amplify that and say that Gibbs has the whole season planned around Portis... In addition to the injury to Portis, I was struck by how lame the rest of the Skins looked.... question surfaced.... how can the highest paid team in the NFL look so lackluster?

I don't know there seems to be a lot of speculation as to whether he will be healthy enough to start the season.

The thing that is puzzling to me is that he goes balls out to make that play and then complains afterwards about not wanting to be out there.

That makes some sense.

Any athlete, any dedicated athlete at that level, flips a switch when he steps out onto the field/court. They may hate the fact that they go out there, but for a lot of guys, once they put on the pads, it's 100 percent the entire time.

And I'm sure some of the complaining was a frustrated reaction to getting hurt in a preseason game.

After seeing a specialist today, The Skins were told Portis would be ready for week 1.

Brunell looked a little shakey, but the starters were in and out so quickly, I wouldn't be using this game as a sign of how the year is going to go.

What do we want?

An 18-game regular season (accompanied by fewer preseason games - or, as San Francisco sportscaster Gary Radnich calls them, scrimmages against guys in different-color jerseys).

When do we want it?

NOW!

So what about it, Commissioner Goodell?
