What?? .... Hockey isn't good enough for your week-by-week, team-by-team analysis????

LA is not a Top10 club. They're pretty good, but they're in a tough division and a tough conference, and I don't think they'll make the playoffs this year.

You should be appreciating a post in here from someone who doesn't regularly post here. I think he only had good intentions. And I don't think it's an insult to hockey that Keith doesn't have real in-depth analysis of each team, he's just not as big a follower of it as football and baseball. He's from Alabama for gosh sakes!

A few weeks into the season, I see a big surprise on top of the standings. The Minnesota Wild is still the "best" team in the league. I haven't been able to see many of their games, as I work during the evening, but from what I've seen they are a good, legitimate contender. Gaborik and Fernandez are pleying well, and there are plenty of others doing so also.
Do I expect to see them playing for Lord Stanley's Cup? Not this season, but they should be in the playoffs.
They are finally getting some respect (from the Minnesota Hockey fans).

We've seen this though last year (ie. Calgary) they got off to a hot start everyone thought they'd be a good team throughout the year. As the season continues into the games that mean more important the better teams will do well. It's happened every year.

Minnesota won't make the playoffs. If not for any other reason, because they are in the West division. This early into their stint as an NHL club, MAYBE they could pull it off if they were in the East but becasue they are in the West, there is no chance. Edmonton can Calgary were #1 and #2 this time lsat year. They finished #9 and like #11, and the Wild were also up there too this time last year. The Wild are a great club and a lot better than most people thought they would be after the expansion & entry drafts last year, but they won't be playoff-boudn thi syear.

Why are the Rangers not on that list? Oh yeah, it's a top 10, not a top 30

I agree with Lee abou the Wild. The East is a joke (how else did the Canes make it to the finals) and teams that start hot don't make the playoffs usually. Remember when the Isles had no regulations losses after the first couple weeks? And sadly, the Rangers were in first place at one point in the season. Then Lindros went down and that was basically the whole team.

Briefly. Maybe 10 games or so. But when he went down we were in first I think (or near first), and then they faded. Also Fleury started taking himself out of games, and York stopped producing. Then when they were in a race with Montreal for the 8th spot, Richter went down with the skull fracture. Bure was a bright spot near the end. He scored 20 points in 12 games.
