Might agree with McGinest #47 in terms of on field credit, but I vividly recall that my man gets PAID some major bucks, so I'm sure life is good in Willie's world.

McGinest doesn't get paid as well as you might think, 78. The Pats have forced a renegotiated contract on him several times in the last few years.

I have to go with Bruschi. Makes the D go just as Zack Thomas does in Miami, but gets relatively little credit, when compared to the likes of Thomas.

'78 + Dave,

I am disappointed that you guys did not pick up on the fact I picked an ex- USC man as the most underrated!!!

It was done somewhat tongue in cheek. But I will say this about ol' Willie. He makes big plays in big games.

Fight On Willie!

If you're of superstar/fantasy stud status you're not allowed on this list. That means no Moulds, Ward, Harrison, Martin, or Shaun Alexander (kidding me?). The only super-big name listed here that I'd agree with is Tom Brady. He reminds me of Troy Aikman in as much as he doesn't put up the flashy numbers, but he doesn't make mistakes and he knows how to win. Even with two Superbowls, he doesn't get enough credit for that.

Maybe its me, maybe its the location I'm at............NY with media overload we have............but I dont understand how people like Brady, Leftwich, Harrison, Martin(but for the obvious being a NYJet)can be called underrated. I think they are all very good, but they are also always talked about and in the media.

Leftwich and Harrison in particular are not local to NY, yet there is no shortage of PUB on there behalf.

Fight On!

Besides, wasn't Roaf considered the top tackle in the league before his knees started giving out?

I don't see how Martin is underrated either as he is getting a lot of the love for the Jets 5-0 start, plus he has been to numerous Pro Bowls over the years.

Every good runner needs a strong fullback escort, and since Martin's leading the league in rushing yards, it's a cinch that Sowell isn't getting enough credit.

And Sowell has 23 receptions, so he's a threat coming out of the backfield.

Anyway, I'm nominating a fullback - any fullback - to be most underrated, because the guy lining up behind him getting all the carries is probably getting too much credit.

Andre Johnson, look at his stats compared to Chris Carter and Jerry Rice, yeah, that kid is for real.
