Default Most Hated NFL Player

We all know Barry Bonds is the most hated player in baseball. Who is the most hated player in the NFL?

I'd agree that T.O. is quite universally despised by the over-50 demographic; among those 35-49, however, probably not, and with the 18-to-34 crowd, definitely not.

I say it would have to be Terrell Owens. It's a shame too. I think he could easily be the most admired. He just doesn't get it. The first few times I saw the Bengal's receiver Chad Johnson, I thought he was a bit arrogant. But now that I have seen him a few times, I think he is awesome. All receivers want the ball, that's natural. But the me, me, me, coming from Owens is getting annoying. At least the media hype about Owens has waned a bit, but it may be because I mostly watch the AFC. Keyshawn Johnson of the Panthers who is another crybaby. He needs to grow-up.

Tho it was only 1 play & we haven't heard of any other incidents lately, I still think Albert Haynesworth would be hard pressed to find any love across the land...

As far as T.O., I think more hate the amount of media given attention he gets which just eggs T.O. into more grandstanding than outright hatred of the man.

I can't stand Shockey. I voted for him in the most overrated player poll. I feel so bad for Eli Manning. Everytime I watch a Giants game and Eli throws an incomletion, they camera cuts to Shockey or Burress and they both look like little pansies. Can't stand that.

Sorry NYGbabe, but Shockey is not in the top tier of TEs in the league. Here are his numbers over the last four seasons:

2003 48 catches 535 yards 2 tds
2004 61 catches 666 yards 2 tds
2005 65 catches 891 yards 7 tds
2006 56 catches 556 yards 7 tds

he doesn't even deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as Antonio Gates or Tony Gonzalez. But it seems he is put up there with thsoe guys so often. That's what I voted him most overrated.

Actually Eman he is ranked #7 TE this year. In the past he has been ranked even higher overall. He has the 2nd most TD's of any TE this year, behind Antonio Gates who is #1. I WOULD consider him a top tier TE. The Giants have been utilizing him A LOT this year to block (for whatever reason that is) and thus his numbers are a bit lower.

1. Tony Gonzalez, KC 73.47 76.45 -2.98 60 759 12.7 57 5
2. Antonio Gates, SD 70.66 66.18 +4.48 64 798 12.5 57 8
3. Alge Crumpler, ATL 58.37 60.02 -1.65 42 618 14.7 46 7
4. Benjamin Watson, NE 55.70 59.32 -3.62 49 643 13.1 40 3
5. Kellen Winslow, CLE 55.35 58.62 -3.27 71 694 9.8 40 3
6. Todd Heap, BAL 52.97 54.22 -1.25 59 597 10.1 30 6
7. Jeremy Shockey, NYG 52.30 52.20 +0.10 56 556 9.9 25 7

So if thats what you are disputing I hate to say it but He is a top tier TE!

As I have said before, I feel bad for Owens. He is by far the most hated player, but if the media didn't provoke it, it would never be that way.

As far as other hated players, Marcus Vick (Is he still with Dolphins?), Albert Haynesworth, and Chad Johnson. (Johnson one of those guys that you either love or hate.)

I hate to say it but top tier is more like top 5. And there is a pretty good drop off from that top tier down to Shockey's level. He runs his mouth way too much. And acts like a ******* on and off the field.

Cool

Ok Eman,
I will give you that maybe he is the most hated player.... in your eyes. But naming him as the most overrated player is bogus. He has stats comparable to the top TE's in the league despite the fact that he has been used primarily for blocking this entire season. He also has the 2nd most TD's of any TE in the league... 'nuff said!
