Default The Big, Bad Raiders

The Raiders put the following starting lineup on the field in Sunday's 38-13 loss to the Titans:

OFFENSE
QB Jason Campbell - 6-5, 230
RB Darren McFadden - 6-2, 210
FB Marcel Reece - 6-2, 240
WR Darrius Heyward-Bey - 6-2, 210
WR Louis Murphy - 6-2, 200
TE Zach Miller - 6-5, 255
OT Langston Walker - 6-8, 360
OG Carlisle Cooper - 6-5, 295
C Jared Veldheer - 6-8, 315
OG Robert Gallery - 6-7, 325
OT Mario Henderson - 6-7, 300

DEFENSE
DE Lamarr Houston - 6-3, 305
DT Tommy Kelly - 6-6, 300
DT Richard Seymour - 6-6, 310
DE Trevor Scott - 6-5, 255
OLB Quentin Groves - 6-3, 265
MLB Rolando McClain - 6-3, 255
OLB Kamerion Wimbley - 6-4, 255
CB Nnamdi Asomugha - 6-2, 210
FS Michael Huff - 6-1, 205
SS Tyvon Branch - 6-0, 205
CB Stanford Routt - 6-1, 195

KICKERS
PK Sebastian Janikowski - 6-2, 250
P Shane Lechler - 6-2, 225

This might be the biggest starting lineup in NFL history.

How can a team this big be this bad?

Well, I don't know about that... You can't teach size, it matters (that's what she said!).

I don't know if it's a conscious effort to field a big team or coincidence, but the bottom line is you need the best players out there, regardless of size.

But surely if a team is this big across the board, they should be able to do some things relatively well, and not finish with the kind of record the Raiders appear to be headed for, if what we saw this past Sunday is a representative example of what their level of play is going to be over the course of this entire season.

Who cares how big they are? If they suck, they suck??? So you are telling me if you put Shaq out there... just cuz he's 7-2 300+ lbs they are gonna win?

Bad players, Bad coaching... all around. I hope they finish 1-15... and have the 1st round pick in 2011

yeah, I hope they fire everyone and make Jason Campbell head coach, GM and player, he would surely be better at all than anyone else in the Raiders organization currently is.

First, welcome back, dude! :wavey:

And second, with that kind of size a team should at least be above average in something, such as, for example, run defense, or short-yardage offense; and it's not like they recruited all these big guys from the corner bar or a local construction site: Every one of them was All-American in college football, or reasonably close to it.

But if the Raiders do finish 1-15, Jake Locker just might be the player that turns everything around in Oakland - just like Peyton Manning did in Indianapolis.

What up Anthony!
Yeah, you would THINK they would play above average - but they just lack the talent imo??

If they do go 1-15.. dont forget... Patriots have their #1 pick this year for the Richard Seymore trade....

Steve, right? (That's how long it's been).

I'm doin' alright I suppose; and who do you like in this week's games - both straight up and against the spread? [I'm not very subtle - now am I? ]

And some dude on the Eagles' message board, of all places, already reminded me of that fact (that the Raiders don't have a #1 pick in the '11 draft).

Maybe they'll go 0-18 next year if the owners can get the 18-game season up and running in time for 2011?

It seems bad for taht, and I have a new topic linked with an article coming soon. Scary thought, no Football in 2011. WHAT WILL THE RAIDERS DO!

I also think it'd be funny if the Raiders went 0-18 in the first 18 game regular season, when it took HOW MANY years before Detroit went 0 and 16

Welcome back, Steve! :wavey: Wow, blast from the past ... what you been up to?

Raiders will be the Raiders (embarrassment) until Al Davis passes. Sad, but true. All starts at the top. He should have passed the reigns long ago.

Even 1-17 would set a new record for most losses in a season.

That is true, but seeing the Raiders go 0 and 18 I will laugh so hard!

What do you have against the Raiders?

Me, I actually kind of like them - because when their home games get blacked out, I get to be able to watch some real football instead!

Al Davis should not be allowed to run a football team. The team is dysfunctional, hell that is an understatement.

What I have against the Raiders is this, I have nothing against the Raiders, they suck, but since I could care less about them, seeing them go 0 and 18 would make me laugh.
