Can someone please explain to me how Rick Sutcliffe still has a job in broadcasting? I flipped over to the game last night in the 7th inning and immediately had to endure Sutcliffe's McCarver-esque soliloquy detailing in great depth his manlove for Derek Jeter. The only thing that made it worthwhile was that it could not have been 10 seconds after Sutcliffe claims that Jeter never ever makes a mental error he gets picked off second.

Please, ESPN, get this man off the air so I can return to watching baseball and not listen to the pablum he spews forth every broadcast.

I like Sutcliffe, he doesn't bother me that much. Noby beats Miller & Morgan on ESPN though. I thought Jeter was actually safe.... looked like his left hand may of gotten to the bag, but the ump couldn't see that at his angle. But hey - I'm gonna dispute it.

Steve Stone and Chip Caray together were about is good as there were I thought. Then the front office got ticked because they started calling it like it was instead of trying to spin it positively for the Cubs and they were more or less asked to look for employment elsewhere.

I like Jon Miller okay, but Morgan kind of grates on me at times.

I grew up watching the Cubs play on WGN with Stone & Chip's grandfather, Harry Caray calling the games - man that takes me back.

Astros offense has been doing great in the first few innings the past couple of games, and jumping on the pitchers early. Last night they jumped on Ben Sheets and put up runs early, and tonight, they jumped on Marquis and got some early runs.

They offense sure is making a big pitch to Clemens in showing him they can put runs up this year if he does decide to come back.

Also, Brad Ausmus has gotten off to an awesome start and is doing a great job at the plate.

Chi-Sox still playin' to the tune of "Train Kept a Rollin""....

If they continue the magic of winning the majority of these 1 run games like last year, they're not only gonna be tough to beat, of course, but prove that last year's stat wasn't a fluke...

Sox jumped out to a nice lead over the Jays... 5 runs in the 1st, batted thru the order. They need after that tuff loss yesterday. So, I'll re-ask the question we've discussed all season (so far). Do you think the Jays will hang with Boston and NY in the AL East?
I'm gonna stick w/ my guns and say no, however, the Jays are better than I thought. The only way I see them hanging around is if Boston or NY has a collapse in Aug or Sep. And I mean collapse, where they lose to say Tampa, Detroit, Minn, and get swept, etc.

Toronto will keep themselves in it until July, usually when we start to see true separation between the truly good teams and the teams that had a nice start but just don't have the guns to stay in the race (read: Baltimore last season, Detroit as the early favorite this season). If the Jays are still playing quality baseball at that point and keeping pace with New York and Boston, maybe we'll see a three team AL East race down the stretch. The White Sox managed to do it last season. Though they had much deeper pitching and really buried their division rivals early on so their end of the season skid didn't end up costing them anything.

I'm really starting to worry about Randy Johnson. He's had several bad outings in a row and is having a little bit of trouble with the Rays tonight. My biggest gripe with him since coming to New York is that he doesn't seem to have that same agressiveness he did Seattle, Houston and Arizona. Even in 2004 with Arizona he still looked like the nasty giant no one wanted to mess with. I wonder if that run-in with the cameraman in NYC right after the trade has had any effect on him. That was the most aggression he has shown since arriving in New York.

Good call. I think it might have something to do with him having to cut his crazy long hair. That added to the whole nasty giant thing. He looks too clean cut now.

My beloved Kansas City Royals finally snapped a 13-game road losing streak on Thursday in a 1-0 win over catman's Minnesota Twins.

It is just a shame that Kansas City has the worst record in baseball and is on pace to lose 114 games this season.

I loved visiting the Kansas City Royals' website this morning and it was asking Royals fans to show their appreciation for guys like Mark Grudzielanek and Doug Mientkiewicz by voting in the on-line ballot for this year's All-Star Game.

Grudzielanek is batting .278 with zero home runs, 25 hits, 4 RBI's and 13 strikeouts.

Mientkiewicz is batting .256 with zero home runs, 21 hits, 5 RBI's and 10 strikeouts.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see one of these guys at the Midsummer Classic.

What a freakin' joke.

"John Buck ó a key element in the Carlos Beltran trade ó actually had a passed ball on a pitchout the other day. First time Iíve seen that one." - Joe Posnanski, the Kansas City Star

I don't know why, but that had me laughing on the floor.

I went to one of the T-Shirt Tuesday games he mentioned in his article and got a David DeJesus shirt.

I gave it to my girlfriend and she said "who is Duh-geezus?"

I sometimes wonder the same thing.

David Glass' press conference comments on Thursday had me a little irked. When asked if General Manager Allard Baird's job was in jeapordy, he replied "All of us have to produce, including the players."

No, Mr. Glass. Below-average players are going to give you below-average results.

I would hope you expect more out of your GM.

The worst part is when you read the Forbes magazine report (that the Royals deny is true) that the team's value is $239 million. Glass bought this team for $96 million.

And Jason Stark of ESPN.com said the other day that the Royals bring in more money in revenue sharing than they spend per year on salary.

I repeat, what a freakin' joke!

Sounds exactly like the Devil Rays. The new owners think that by having free parking for all the games and allowing tailgating before each game will help people forget about the mediocre play by the team overall.

You get free parking for all the games?

I have still have to pay ten bucks to park at the Truman Sports Complex. But, I won't complain too much considering you can by a ticket for only $7, and tickets are never hard to come by.
